We collect general literature about all subjects as well as more specialised literature in the chief areas of teaching and research at TU Dortmund:

Dortmund University Library holds:

Study Environment
- appr. 1500 reading room seats, of which at least 500 are equipped with network sockets. Wireless network is accessible nearly everywhere (Notebook - Internet Access via Wireless LAN).
- appr. 180 computer workstations
- group work rooms in some Departmental Libraries
- a room reserved for reading out loud for the blind and visually impaired
- a multimedia room equipped with:
- five word processing workstations with internet access
- TV set and video player
- a workstation for the blind and visually impaired
- four lockable cubicles for academic writing

Opening Hours, Loans
- Central Library: open 122 hours a week
- Lending Services (Lending department and Interlibrary loans): open 67 hours a week
- Reference Service (Central Library ground floor and second floor): open 52 hours a week
- Information Centre for Technology and Patents: open 35 hours a week
- Departmental Libraries: open appr. 50 hours a week
