Dortmund University Library Lockers
Terms of Use

according to § 4 [2] of Dortmund University Library Regulations (Benutzungsordnung für die Universitätsbibliothek Dortmund).

This is an unofficial translation of the Schließfachordnung der Universitätsbibliothek Dortmund for the convenience of non-German speaking users. The Schließfachordnung der Universitätsbibliothek Dortmund is the sole authoritative and legally binding document.

  1. Dortmund University Library provides lockers for the safekeeping of users' coats and bags during visits to the library. Lockers must be vacated at night and may not be used overnight. Users must not store dangerous or hazardous items or substances in the lockers. Users may only occupy one locker at a time.
  2. The deposit locks are operated with a € 2,- coin or a chip. The coin/chip will be automatically returned on reopening the locker. Keys for all other lockers can be borrowed for a deposit.
  3. By using a Dortmund University Library locker you agree to the Dortmund University Library Lockers Terms of Use. Exceeding the usage period allowed under 1) will result in library staff opening and vacating the locker without prior warning. Food and other perishables will be immediately disposed of without reimbursement. The deposit coin will go towards the library budget, stored property will be removed and stored at the library. Stored property that is not collected by the owner will be passed on to Dortmund University Lost Property Office after a certain period of time.
  4. If you have problems opening or closing a locker or if you have lost your locker key, please notify staff at the reference desk. Users are liable for loss of key and for damages resulting from improper use of the lockers.
  5. Dortmund University is liable for loss of property or damages to property only if these occur despite proper use of the locker and if they are due to wilful intent or gross negligence on the part of Dortmund University Library. Loss of or damages to property will only be refunded to the extent of € 500,-. Dortmund University is not liable for money or valuables stored in lockers.
  6. These Terms of Use come into effect on their publication in the Amtliche Mitteilungen der Technischen Universität Dortmund. At the same time the Rules for Locker Use dating from December 11, 2001 expire.
